1920 x 1080 HD Codec - 176mbs @ 10 bit - Price Dropping!
 

Go with me on this people - these new flash recording boxes are great - record 10 bit - nice mobile form factor - flash memory falling.

BUT!

What about a proven workflow that 90% of broadcasters use right now for HD and a codec @ 176 mbs for 24p or 220 mbs for 60i?

Yep, I'm talking about Avid DNxHD.

For under 10K you could get an older adrenaline system with a DNxHD board, bring this on the set of your feature, and with say a 300 ft BNC cable (max length HD-SDI), have a decent amount of flexibility while recording 10 bit quality equivalent to HD-CAM.

It's a memory hungry codec, it will require an array, but I'm surprised nobody has thought of this or done this yet? Or have they?

Check Ebay - I'm not kidding.
BTW-
DNxHD blows Pro-Res out of the water.

I'm not trying to pitch Avid (I love FCP) but don't overlook this if mobility isn't king.

So what are you saying? You're selling your Adrenaline and switching to ProRes? ;-)

With all the add-ons needed I'd say you're better off with a Wafian for field recording.

No- That's what is awesome. No need to switch to Pro Res. Keep your native avid codec and use a 176 mb codec in FCP. I'm in love with this perspective workflow.
