Backup AVID 'Project' Files?

Hey guys,

I'm drawing a blank, but my system has suffered a catastrophic problem and will probably have to be reinstalled.

My media is stored on a hard drive array, but I am forgetting how to backup the project files. Currently I guess in the loading window it's set to my Users folder (windows vista), can I just copy this entire folder to an external, then when I reinitialize, just copy the contents back to my new Users folder?

Appreciated.

Hi Ed.

I believe that should work fine, but say your prayers anyway! You never know what may happen when a computer flakes out. One gotcha to watch out for, missing codecs when you restore your operating system drive.

Ed: if you still have access to the system, you can copy the internal "Avid Projects" folder onto an external drive. When you reload the AVID software onto your new system, copy and paste the batch of projects inside that copied folder into the existing (and empty) folder in the new AVID software load.

That should get you close. You may also want to copy your user settings the same way and transport them to the new system.
