AVPA Melbourne Meeting - 1st February 2011

The first meeting of the year looks like being a beauty.

Rob Myers will demo the much anticipated new Panasonic's AG AF 100 camera. This camera has been called the “HD DSLR killer. It’s a new generation video camera that allows various lenses to be used including SLR type. The camera can be under or over cranked for great slow motion impact. The large 4 thirds lens mount is capable of very shallow depth of field which is one of the main advantages of DSLR cameras over Video cameras. Of course, the AG AF 100 camera won’t have the out of focus and aliasing problems associated with DSLRs.’

The second speaker Danniielle O’Connor has background in audio engineering spans approximately 25 years and ranges from live and location recording to studio engineering and mastering in the music, film and television industries.

Danniielle will touch on;-

- Audio level practises and common misconceptions in the industry.
- The difficulties in transferring many of the new camera codecs available today.
- Two of my most used audio/visual production tools, those being VirtualDub and REAPER. Danniielle’s most used audio/visual production tools.

With the many different camera codecs around today Danniielle’s presentation will be a guide to unlocking some of the more powerful filtering and encoding functions in VirtualDub, a free and one of the most powerful encode-decode software tools available.

As a professional engineer, Danniielle’s primary DAW for more than a decade has been ProTools. However, having used REAPER as a location recording solution on a number of important live recordings of Aussie bands and artists Dragon, The Black Sorrows, Ross Wilson (Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock), Russell Morris, Brian Cadd, Darryl Cotton (Little River Band) and numerous others, Reaper has never let me down.

Should be a terrific educational night, if any interstate or country members have audio issues or questions send them to me and Danniielle will answer them on the night.
