The Straight Story

Does anyone know how big of a crew David Lynch used to make "The Straight Story"? I'm just wondering if he pulled that one off with a micro-crew.

Google to the rescue

I'm thinking of converting my religion to Googlism. Prayer has a habit of leaving me in suspense--but Google always seems to have the answer.

http://www.lynchnet.com/sstory/sscourier.html says that the crew was on the order of 100 people. Which isn't surprising given that the film had a budget of $10 million. With that kind of money no director should have to settle for a skeleton crew.

Isn't it funny how some films seem like they're made with a small crew, but really aren't, and then other films are just the other way around.

John Locke December 9th, 2002 11:41 PM

Yep...this one had me fooled. Not that it looks unpolished, though...it just has a cozy small crew feel to it IMHO...which impresses me even more now.

Robert, thanks for bending a knee at the alter of the almighty Google on my behalf. You're obviously "in" better with It than I am since my prayers only came up with short reviews. Guess I need to mend my heathen ways.

Google has been my religion for years. You can almost find anything
with that.

If you put the following in the search box:

+"The Straight Story" +"David Lynch" +crew

Link 8 will be the link to the page above

Happy google'ing!

p.s. Don't forget you can also use the - sign in google to
exclude words or sentences (in between ").

p.s.s. More articles are on that site about the movie:

No need for the plus signs.

Chris Korrow December 10th, 2002 12:12 PM

I can't believe that it cost 10 million to make that movie, but I guess that's why I'm living on a farm, growing our own food and working by myself on my projects.

True Robert... It is more of a habit for myself. That way I more
thinking about how I am constructing my search.
