Wrong Answer on "Jeopardy"?
 

They seem to have a staff of experts who formulate the questions and stand by to rule on answers on "Jeopardy". But tonight, I think they may have made a mistake. I call on trivia buffs to tell me if I'm wrong. The question or answer, as Jeopardy calls it, was "Who was the Hippy-dippy Weatherman?". The answer/question a contestant gave, was "George Carlin" and this was declared to be correct. I recall that Pat Paulsen did a "hippy-dippy weatherman" routine on TV. Did they both do this? If so, who was first?

I remember george carlin's work from the late 80's.... I'm guessing he may have gotten in first. But I'm no 100% on that.... any other takers?

In checking for information about Pat Paulsen, I found this website. Click on the "Editorials" section to read his double-talk monologues, from the "Smothers Brothers Show". They should provide anyone with some good entertainment, although there's no substitute for hearing Pat deliver them. As he would say, they present a good copulation of the facts.

To my knowledger George Carlin did the hippy dippy weatherman.

I am old enough (62) to have seen him do it live on TV!

George Carlin did it. It was one of the tracks on his AM/FM album of the early '70s.

"Tonight's forcast...dark. Continued mostly dark tonight turning to widely scattered light in the morning."

And, my other favorite line from that track.

"Currently it's 70 degrees at the airport, which is stupid because I don't know anybody who lives at the airport."

Although it was Carlin who did it, he introduced the 'hippy-dippy' weatherman as Al Sleet, as Paul mentioned above.

That album and Cheech and Chong's Wedding album are two of my favorite comedy albums of all time.
