Robert Downey, Jr. cast as Tony Stark/Iron Man!

Some of you may know that I love the character from Marvel, Iron Man, and this is HUGE and completely unexpected news. I hope Jon Favreau can knock one out of the park, because this would've been a dream for me to direct.

ps-I have an Iron Man tattoo on my forearm, which many who saw me on last fall's HDV tour discovered.

What do you mean... how bout others who loved Iron Man... who says you get to direct.... :-) just in case you miss the smiley I was kidding...

To be honest I haven't thought of who I would want to be Iron Man as long as its not Tom Cruise... there was talk once that he wanted to play the role...

Oh I guess the tattoo lets you win... since I don't have any... and never will...

I was hoping this guy would've gotten it:

Robert Downey Jnr is a terrible choice. He just looks and sounds too soft.

Ive watched a few episodes of Eureika, and that is spot on casting Heath. The man does the 'driven' part very well.

Heath McKnight September 29th, 2006 08:57 AM

Thanks, Marvin. Ed Quinn's name being Stark on the show wasn't too bad. But the thing is, I think RDj can pull it off. We all laughed when Christian Bale was cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman, but he pulled it off well in Batman Begins.

Ultimately, I'm just glad the armor's gonna be red and gold (one producer a few years back said it wouldn't be--WHAT?!), and that they didn't cast wooden models/actors in their late teens as Stark and Rhodey (Terrence Howard may be coming aboard as Rhodey).

What, you mean they didn't cast Jim Jannard?

Heath McKnight October 2nd, 2006 01:56 PM

Jim Jannard IS a Tony Stark-like guy, I'll agree with that. Except, Stark makes Gates look poor and Hawkings look average-brained. Someone once joked that Mr. Fantastic would build some sort of super device that would fit in a room. But Tony Stark would make it the size of a lighter.

Heath, I was just kidding. I think RDJ is a great choice. Much better than some celebrity type just mugging for the camera.

I know, but I can't help but thinking, Jim J. is a lot like Stark.

Tony Stark is an alcoholic. I'm thinking Robert Downey Jr. doesn't need to method act this one.

Heath McKnight October 2nd, 2006 06:11 PM

Part 2 or 3 will deal with the classic, award-winning "Demon in a Bottle" storyline, and he can add depth to that.
