Pan's Labyrinth

Just saw it at the Hollywood. What a wonderful film!

Totally agree. I loved the texture of the world that was created, extreme rich and evocative.

'The Devil's Backbone', also by Del Toro, is also a wonderful film. The DVD of 'Devil's Backbone' has a great commentary track by Del Toro, who talks at length about his artistic and personal influences. The commentary could be published alone as an essay, I'd say.

Do you know what the name of the lullaby is or who composed it? My brother wants a score to work on and work it into his piano gigs.

I bought this one wed morning (day after release on DVD) and with much anticipation, popped it in my DVD player and spent the first 20-25 minutes trying to find the English soundtrack. The list of languages in the setup menu was truncated from the right so I kept missing the fact that the only English audio was director's commentary.

When I finally realized this was released with Spanish soundtrack only, I reactivated the English subtitles, shut off director's commentary (which I never listen to anyway), sat back...

...And thoroughly enjoyed the movie!

Great story, superb photography and special effects, and very convincing acting with an especially enchanting performance by the young girl who played Ofelia.
