Would be interested in peoples opinion on the production values of this piece.

I, for one , thought that whether or not you believe the 'apparent facts', it had a pace and memetic attraction which compels the viewer to keep watching. Altogether a fascinating style.

It is very well done.
Puts a lot of things into perspective.
You can tell they put in a lot of time and some serious heart into it.

I've yet to catch Zeitgeist in its entirety but I've seen about 75% of it, and was really impressed.
Unfortunately, I don't think a DVD will be released anytime soon.

I think that some of the footage they used wasn't legally cleared for use, so they have to make it free on the web.
Then again, considering the importance of the content contained within, it's imperative to make it available for free.

Actually, I was mistaken. I hadn't noticed before, but there are full quality pressed DVD's available, but only through PayPal.

They've also got a download page.

Brain fart

AHA! Someplace recently, someone put the awareness of this title in my semi-conciousness, and, after downloading and watching, I wanted to know who to blame.

Actually interesting, if somewhat extreme, but suffered from lack of production values and some unfortunate editorial decisions. What's with all the blackouts, cheap motion graphics and loops. Couldn't afford media? Then SHORTEN it. And what's with all the looping of Bush and others, making fun of them? That's pure adolescent BS. Make your point with media and rational thought. If you resort to stupid hooks, like copying the worst of the Daily Show, you weaken your own argument. And I'm a fan, but there are simply some things they do that work better than others.

Also, didn't think the 3 segments tied together well. That being so, the wrapup should have linked them together better. Finally, wouldn't it be great if this and similar manifesto's had some kind of overall call to action, suggestions on a positive action step you could take, a group or website you could contact etc.

Or maybe it's just me.

my take

I just watched it and have to say I found it very compelling. I like the black outs. It makes you listen to the audio all the more. The ending with Bill Hicks was inspired. It's like a libertarian socialist (think Noam Chomsky) "Triumph of the Will"

It's a bit disjointed. All three parts where facinating but I'm wasn't convinced they belong in the same film. It's really a trilogy of films smashed together.

The filmmakers kind of lost me with the international bankers section. "International bankers" is 9 times out of 10 a code word for jewish financiers. It's a crypto-racist term usually used by anti-semitic morons. I know they probably didn't mean it that way, but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

But, ideology aside - it's bravura no budget filmmaking. And I think it's a taste of the future. With NLE technology only getting better and cheaper, I think we can expect more diatribes like this and some of them might actually be worth watching like this one.

The next Karl Marx or Voltaire may be just as familiar with FCP and the Kid Stays In the Picture Effect as she or he is with socio-economics.

They should make kids in school watch that !

I just came across this on line, it was well worth the two hours i thought. They do bring up some interesting points and what they say about 911 i agree with completely.

I think to substantiate anything they say you would have to do a lot of your own research (just a hunch but i think if you put time into your own research it would come out very similar). Of course who is going to go to all that trouble and if they did what would you do with the information? if you made a film about it you would only end up like the film that inspired you........ with a skeptical public.

This film tells us that media is part of a manipulating system that wants to control us, and with that in mind you have to put this film under its own guidlines........it is a scary thought that they are putting across and that is perpetuating the media controlled fear that they are describing.

I for one am open to what they said although i would need a lot more understanding of the content to completely belive it.

good film though

Andy.
