Unless i've missed something obvious, umm, blu-ray recordable and re-writable disk have been available for a long time - since about May or something at B&H :

Comp USA has blank Blu-ray media too... was surprised to see that.

wow $50 for 50GB disc.......not cheap!
Hard drives are literally less expensive.

cool.... but my gut tells me to go hddvd for some reason....

I remember buying my 1st cd burner back in 94... $1200 bucks and 2X write times..... I think it was a HP. But hay... at the time I could get $50 for a disk.... and I hated those zip and jaz drives, so the cd burner was my new best friend.
