Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 movement within the lens when off the camera
 

I am curious if others have had this occur to them or if there may be something wrong with a Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 lens I just recently received two days ago.

I put the lens on my c100 to check for vignetting in the corners and just to see how it functioned on the camera with the autofocus update I had done.

When I took the lens off of the camera and put the end caps back on, I could hear movement inside the lens and feel something rocking back and forth.

I am now exchanging emails with the store from whom I purchased the lens about whether this is normal for this lens or if this particular lens is defective. I am told by the sales department that this is the stabilization aspect of the lens that I hear. Although I get no occurrence of this if I rotate my wrist with a Canon 24-105 lens.

Does anyone who has this lens had a similar episode? That is, when the lens is off the camera and you are holding it in your hand, and gently rotate your wrist back and forth you can feel movement and hear a quiet dampened noise with the rotating? Not a sharp noise, but a kind of dull noise.

Would the lens stabilization aspect of the lens be this loose within it?
