Just ordered a C100 Mk II - using with Shogun

Coming from a Canon XF300 and frustrations with it's low light capabilities (where I can't get more light), I just ordered the C100 Mk II (just getting in under the wire on their 0% financing). I ordered the 18-135 kit, and already have a 24-105 f4L, 85 1.2L II, 50 1.2L, 100 2.8L IS macro, 35 F2 IS, a 70-300 DO, and an OLD 17-35 L - anxious to see how these lenses work in video (LOVE the 1.2's on my 5DIII).

I'll be using it with the Shogun... and I edit in PP Creative Cloud on a PC.

Any advice on getting up and running with the C100 Mk II? Any instructional material on it? I'm somewhat experienced, but not a pro. I will use it in my work (pastor) in my own place and on special commissions for the larger denomination (state/national).

Looking at a cage for it - RedRock Micro Ultra Cage Mk II looks interesting and affordable...

Thanks!

Congratulations - I'm sure you'll love it. I went for the Mk I to save $$$ and couldn't be happier. Amazingly good in low light.

Thanks, Jim - looking forward to it - especially playing with the f1.2 lenses. But the larger sensor and MUCH greater light sensitivity are what interests me most.

Does your Mk I have the updated focusing?

I thought about the Mk 1 but the 0% lease was too good to pass on - I can write off the payments, so it's not too painful. I REALLY considered the C300 Mk II, but it's way overkill for my needs, and that's a lot of money to invest in something that isn't a part of my daily work. I'm concerned about the lower bit rate of the C100 Mk II, but from what I've seen, it will be just fine. And I can record with the Shogun to up the bit rate.

Any special things you can point out about the camera? Issues, concerns?

Thanks,

Larry

No big issues - except for the Mk I's less than great EVF. But I've gotten to where I can use it well enough and I also have the Zacuto unit that snaps on to the LCD display when needed. And I use mine with a Ninja. Having said that, the AVCHD off the card is fine for most things.

I have the Auto Focus and as such things go it works well. I never trust anything that says "Automatic" but in this case I got it so I can use my follow focus unit to zoom and let the AF keep things in focus. Not perfect, but it works well enough for most things. I mainly do classical orchestra concerts and want to zoom in on soloists so it's not a fast motion thing. I'd rather have a servo zoom like on my old JVC 110 but not willing to pay the price for one for the C100. I've also programmed one of the buttons to toggle AF on and off.

Great camera. Make sure you use the ProResHQ with the Shogun as the lower quality ProRes flavors have odd artifacting.
