"Glamorama" - C300 Mk2 in 4K and 120fps

Just finished this short piece on a Brighton, UK based 70s tribute band called "Glamorama". Shot on the Canon C300 Mk2 in 4K - some of it at 120fps - in Clog (pre-firmware upgrade). Audio was a big challenge, and shot and edited everything myself, but was a fun shoot :)

I enjoyed watching that. Was thinking it was indeed a fun shoot.

Only in Brighton!

Not my type of music at all. I couldn't stand all the glam rock bands but a very well produced 'slice of life' promo.

I was under-wealmed by the picture quality until I turned on 4K on YouTube and watched it full screen on my iMac. Spectacular image quality especially in the interior live music scenes, almost 3D in appearance!

And very good sound quality as well.

Dan, really nice work, looks like the "lads" are fun to hang with. I agree, the 4K full screen on a 27" iMac looks very nice. So impressed with the C300 MKII and of ourse, your eye and skills.

Thanks for the kind words and glad it looks good in 4K.

I both shot and interviewed the two band members myself - which means I was not always sure if it was framed/focused correctly and a couple of the interviewee shots are in soft focus for that reason.

But they were indeed a fun lot to work with and I was impressed how well C-log worked for this type of shoot. I'm not convinced by what I have seen of C-log 2 as yet, but looking forward to explore the updated version when I get the chance.

How did you do 4K at 120fps on the C300 Mark II?

You can't. I filmed the slow motion and timelapse in 1080p and then upscaled it to 4K. I use Adobe Premiere as the NLE and is does a great job of upscaling footage.

Very nice Dan, I really enjoyed watching it... these types of mini docs are what I like and like to shoot. I'm not going to comment on tech stuff. just nice to see a nice little doc shared.

As others have said, Glam rock was not my scene, but I was at school in the 70's and still know all the words off by heart. I mean, we all watched TOTP religiously.

I guess Bowie would be the exception of the artists I actually liked and bought records in that period.. but then he was originally a mod.
I imagine one of these nights would be a laugh.

Thanks for sharing
Cheers
Gareth

Thanks Gareth, I appreciate the kind words!

I wish I had more opportunities to do documentaries of this nature, in particular character studies. Although in this case every member of the band was a character worth studying!
