Atomos recorder for the C300MK2

Hi.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience as to which Atomos recorder would work best with the Canon C300MK2 and which and what capacity SSDs to buy?

I am looking at the Atomos Shogun Flame to take advantage of 4K and RAW capabilities of the camera as well as to use it with a Sony Fs5 and A7s.

I am currently selling my VideoDevices PIX5e, unfortunately, as it does not work with the C300MK2 in 4K. VideoDevices will not talk about their firmware upgrades either, so it does look like a bad match for my Canon. It is a shame as it works flawlessly with the A7s

I really considered a Pix as it's great size to use on the Sony A7R that I have as a B-cam, but, like you, its lack of support for using it on my C300 Mark II when I need to is a dealbreaker.

I have the Atomos Shogun and can record CDNG from the C300 Mark II on it with Sandisk Extreme SSDs (pre-Pro series). I would think either the Shogun or Shogun Flame would be good. The Inferno won't gain you anything less you are thinking of picking up a GH5 later on, and then you'd want an Inferno for 4Kp60 on that cam.

I would recommend Sandisk Extreme Pro or Samsung 850 Pro SSDs.

Hi Gary and thank you for your reply.

It is a deal breaker for sure. Too bad I found out too late. It kinda surprised me though. I never imagined that a recorder would not work with any camera. Lesson learned I guess.

I believe my best bet would be the Shogun Flame then. I will check out the disks you recommend.
