somewhat kodachrome film color rendition

anybody notice the saturated color rendition of all the canon chips... I just can't get over this. I see it in the 7d also. Can it be fixed in cam? Any thoughts?

you can create any look you want with the Picture Styles.. Google and you can find many
for free....

here's a guy telling/showing you about them... he also list a few for download, its not much of
a tutorial but you'll get the idea.

Also, the reds tend to be hot. You can adjust this in the picture style, or with a custom white balance, unless, of course, you want a warm look.

I have a feeling the 7d doesn't have as much picture tweaking ability as a prosumer HD camera does. I'm very interested in 7d but it's that saturation that kills me... I saw it on the canon a1 and h1 also. Rolling shutter jellovision is another issue.

You can't just tune it in your NLE?

Ray,
After reading this thread, and also "Flatten your 7d", and going to the links on picture styles, I realize that I need to download the program from the dic that came with the camera. There are a whole bunch of programs on the disc, and I wanted to know which I needed to be able to then download some of these cistom picture styles.
Thanks

Amos, there's a lot more tweaking abililty. You can do about any look you might want. You can download the manual from the Canon site, and there are numerous threads about it on all the boards. And all CMOS chip cameras have the rolling shutter issue, it's something to be aware of and if you do certain types of shooting, it might be better to not get a DSLR hybrid.

Bruce, Here's the site for the software, just choose your op system and download what you need.... picture style editor is about have way down on this page...

Canon EOS 5D Mark II Digital SLR Camera..

Its important to know also that if Canon provides a firmware update to your camera that
you should also make sure you have all of the updated software loaded too...

Ray,
I finally figured out how ti download a picture style. I installed the EOS utility program from the disk that came with the camera, the followed the instructions from the page you reccomended in the other post ("Flatten the 7d"). I manged to download the Marvel cine' prest into user 1 in the 7d. Ihaven't tried it yet (it's 2:55 am here and I can barely see).

can you reccomend any other links for ysable presets?
Thanks
