err 80

I kept getting a err 80 on a shoot today, what is it and does anyone know what causes it and how to prevent it?

A couple of points:

I was shooting on a jib so I had a 12' HDMI-MINI to HDMI cable [first time I used such a long cable], and a new Canon battery. I rebooted the first two times by turning off and removing the battery, when it did it again I replaced the batter but it still did gave me the error 80 message.

I had a similar situation. I was using a lilliput monitor connected via mini hdmi and the camera gave me an err 80 message. My solution, like yours, was to remove and replace the battery.

Canon says that it's:

An image or electric control malfunction has been detected.

-Turn the power switch to <ON> to turn on the power again.
-Remove and re-install the battery.
-Use a Canon lens.
-If the instructions above do not solve the problem, please contact your nearest Canon Service Center.

I haven't connected the monitor since this occurred, but assume that it will happen again. I think what caused it was the constant on and off of the camera - since I was trying to conserve battery.
