Fisheye
 

I've got a point card for a local electronics shop and was going to get myself another lens or a flash. The 1dmark4 is the camera I now have. The two lenses I was looking at were the Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye or Sigma 15mm f/2.8 EX DG Diagonal Fisheye. Was wondering, from a video perspective, what people have thought about fisheye lenses.

Don't over use it, every lens has its place. Note however that the 7D has a crop factor of 1.6x so your 15mm fisheye become a 24mm wide which is not very fishy. To take advantage of the fisheye you need a camera like the 5DII which has a full frame sensor.

I think Jason's new camera has a crop factor of 1.3X. Maybe we need a new Forum section for that camera? (or all the Canon DSLR's in one huge section?)

This is the 15mm canon on the 7D.

I have a Tokina 10-17 fisheye lens, bought a few years ago for still photography purposes. As far as I know this is the only fisheye zoomlens on the market. It is amazingly sharp and has a very clear view. Although I haven't yet heard a lot about this lens for video purposes I will give it a try for sure when I have my 7D in hand (ordered yesterday).

Greg, nice job. I have a Nikon 10.5mm fisheye that I use, with ana adapter, on my 7D. I love it, especially for still work because I can defish it with software, resulting in an ultra-wide FOV. Also, you usually don't need to worry about focus when shooting video with a fish.

Like you, I often find my shadow in the shot. I enjoyed watching you skate around to keep up with the boarder.
