Recommended Settings to do Time Lapse

Getting the hang of the camera. I bought a time controller for the camera and it allows me to set the seconds before I shoot and the number of frames it takes. Can anyone provide a setup for shooting time lapse of clouds? I know it depends on how long of a finished sequence I would want, but for now, I just want to get 30 seconds of smooth action, nothing rocketing across the sky just something that shows the movement and suggests the passage of time.

Thanks,

Phil

A good starting point is manual mode, 1/30th a second a shot every 5 seconds, adjust apeture to lighting conditiion and lens. Don't change any settings once you start. For playback put in a 24 frames per second movie that will be 30 seconds long and total 720 frames. Shooting 12 frames per minute will take you one hour to get the 30 seconds of cloud movement. Try shooting in a medium quality first, because the file in Fine will be HUGE.

Here is a tutorial from Zach Wise that is a good over view of time lapse principals,
