Steadicam Pilot + 7D: How to use monitor?
Anyone figure out a way to use the Steadicam Pilot monitor while flying the 7D?

This seems like a trick question...!
You use it just like any other camera. Use the AV cable that comes with the 7D, plug the video end into the Pilot's top stage (may need an RCA to BNC adaptor) and view the camera output on the Pilot's monitor. |
Just like Charles has said, use the video cable and plug the yellow part into the stage of the pilot. No BNC adapter needed bro :).

Oh, duh. I was thinking that was some USB out and I was wondering how to get the HDMI-out to work with the Pilot.
Found my cable and I'm flying. Thanks. |
Good deal.
If you did ever have to provide HD-SDI off the rig (say, if there was a need to externally monitor the image in HD), at the moment it would take two boxes: an HDMI to HD-SDI cross-converter and then an HD-SDI to composite downconverter for the Pilot's monitor (I would use the Blackmagic and the Decimator, respectively). There are some all-in-one solutions on the way for this. |

Found this thread and wondering if the best method is still to use the Blackmagic converter in combination with the Decimator to get both wireless monitoring as well as video on the sled itself.

In doing some more looking - it looks like the Decimator MD-Cross would work for this config.
