Minolta Lens Adapter

Hi there... I recently acquired my T2i, and am not quite in the budget level to add much to the lens department. I do however have an old Minolta XG-1, and a few lenses with it.

I have a Rokkor X 45mm 1:2 MD lens, a 28mm Minolta 1:2.8 MD, and Minolta Zoom 75-200mm 1:4.5 Md lens.

I also found this adapter on ebay: AF Confirm Minolta MD MC Lens to Canon EOS EF Adapter - eBay (item 370391954637 end time Jul-05-10 06:44:44 PDT)

So I guess my questions are: Would this work with these lenses? and Would the quality be worthwhile for video, or am I better off getting the Canon 50mm 1.8 (which the only other lens I could possible afford?)

Thanks.

The difference between this adapter and the very common Nikon adapters is that this one has an optic in it. And as the whole unit costs $40 you might guess that it's not going to be a terribly good optic!

It needs the optic to get infinity focus as the flange back distance on Minoltas won't allow the use of a straightforward metal ring adapter like the Nikons will.

You can pick up Nikon manual focus lenses really cheap, it'd probably be better to do that and get a Nikon adapter.

Hi Cole,

Read the article I posted by Chris Watson on vintage lenses. You can save a lot of money by buying vintage lenses, and they are generally cheaper and much better than the Canon 50mm 1.8.
