I didn't tried the DVRig, but I use something very similar, the Steadystick

I removed the side handle and I am using it with the neck strap of the camera fully extended. Very steady!

Interesting.
Just last week, I was thinking about using a flagpole-bearers belt along with a monopod for support, and for quick mobility.
