If you can only afford one lens the Canon 17-55mm F/2.8 IS is a brilliant all rounder lens.

Excelent choices for the money.
However the Canon 50mm is fine for photography but the manual focus ring is small, and it's not so easy to work with for video. You will probably need a vintage alternative with a smoother focusing ring for video. |
