will i miss my old cam?

This may be a dumb question bu I most likely will get the t3i to use for 90 percent video and 10 percent photos(here and there). I am debating selling my xha1 but am also thinking about keeping it as a backup for certain shots. If I sell it do you think I will miss it? Anyone sold it for a dslr and regret not keeping it?

It depends. What kind of video do you shoot? Narrative? Interviews? Sell the sucker. Events? Keep it.

Re: will i miss my old cam?

I bought a 550D two months ago and my FX7 has not left it's bag since. Nor have I rented the Sony Z1's that I used to use for some projects.

I think the FX7 will be going on eBay soon to pay for another 550D body, and probably an SPL water housing as well.

Re: will i miss my old cam?

I would not sell it. Keep it as a back up and also if you require to just pick up a camera and shoot. You can't do it with the DSLRs as this versions are not really a replacement of camcorders yet.

Not for weddings though John, to much hassle apart from a couple of shots when you have time, reception area ect

Re: will i miss my old cam?

Do you have a DSLR audio solution in place to replace the balanced audio ins on the XH-A1?
Or is audio not important for what you do?
