Glidecam 2000 Pro - Canon 60D
I picked up a used Glidecam 2000 pro to use with my Canon 60D and Tokina 11-16 zoom lens (and Rode video mic). I am having a very difficult time getting it balanced vertically, so I can whip it back and forth like in this Glidecam video:
YouTube - ‪Glidecam 2000 Pro Setup 'The Stability of Balance'.‬‏ If anyone out there uses a similar setup, would you mind sharing how much weight you use and how much you have the slider thingy extended? I think this might help get me close so I can fine tune. Thanks for any help. I have a gig Saturday and I'm hoping I can get this thing working. I used to have a Blackbird and was able to balance it ok, but I didn't like the shape. The Glidecam seemed so much more robust and simple. Thanks, Geoff |

Hi Geoff,
I don't know if this will help you or not: |
Re: Glidecam 2000 Pro - Canon 60D
I have found that if you set up a light stand, c-stand etc. and put the hollow handle of the Glidecam onto it, you can easily balance the unit in real time. It takes only a few minutes at the most. Also...the more close to perfect balance you get (slower drop time) the more sensitive the balance becomes. A fast drop time is much easier to balance but is not as smmoth for shooting.
Good luck! I use mine all the time with a canon 10-22 lens at it is amazing. Craig |
