Memory Card Indicator Please Help
Hi All,
I have been using my DSLR for a few weeks now and all has been good, my first wedding is in 2 days time and today I am seeing a five level indicator on the right hand side of my LCD screen which keeps reaching the maximum and shooting just stops. The cards I have are the Transcend 32GB SDHC Class 10 memory cards, I have formatted the cards but as soon as I start to record again they stop and I see the indicator. I just don't know what to do as I have purchased 6 of these. The indicator is on page 164 of the manual. I am recording at 1920 50fps with image set to Raw.. Please Help |
Re: Memory Card Indicator Please Help
Have you got Magic Lantern running high bitrates ?
Are the cards genuine ? Before you use any card on a paying gig, record them to full and playback to make sure they are all ok. Better to stick to 16gb cards, all your eggs in one basket and all that. If a 32gb card fails, your going to lose twice as much footage I only ever use 16gb Transcends, never missed a beat in any of my cams. (EX1, 550D, TM900 and HX9) If your using DSLRs, make sure you always have 2 cams covering all the essential shots. Do you mean 1080/50i ? The raw setting has no effect on video recording |
Re: Memory Card Indicator Please Help
Hi,
I don't have Magic installed and purchased the cards from Amazon. The cards had great reviews and were also suggested to me in this forum. 16GB cards have the same write speed so I may get the same error. 1920x1080@50FPS. I can't afford a two dslr setup yet but I have spent over 1.5k purchasing good quality highly recomended hardware. Why can't things just work! |
Re: Memory Card Indicator Please Help
So wait, every single one of these cards does this?
What other card have you been using? I would find someone with a similar camera and try them in there just to make sure it's not yours that they don't get along with. |
Re: Memory Card Indicator Please Help
What camera do you have? There is no 1920x1080@50fps on Canon line of cameras.

Re: Memory Card Indicator Please Help
If I am shooting at 50fps should I not be using the 180 degree rule meaning the shutter speed should be 100?

Re: Memory Card Indicator Please Help
What scares me is I will find out in post what the footage actually looks like. I am shooting a wedding so movement wise I have dancing, and that’s about it. The rest is just people sitting down eating and talking. If I shoot using 1/50 that should good for low light. All these figures that are out scare me a little as I am new to DSLRs but in general would you say
50p = 1/50 basic shooting 50p = 1/100 lots of motion like dancing and sports ? |

Re: Memory Card Indicator Please Help
Great, I will try this tonight. Is it worth doing a low level format on all the cards?
