What Sound Set up should I go for?
Hi I have a canon 60D and I've been looking up different sound set ups for my camera. I first thought maybe I could get plug a JuicedLink cx211 and plug that into a rode ntg-1/2, also because it is relatively cheap. But now I'm having second thoughts on it since I won't be able to listen to the sound as it is being recorded.
I also found out about the h4n but I'm a little hesitant on the price since it almost completely eats up my budget. What kind of set up would the h4n offer me and what else what would I have to buy to get great sound? Would the cx211 and the rode ntg1/2 be good enough? |
Re: What Sound Set up should I go for?
Luis,
If you shoot solo, I recommend a juicedLink into the camera. If you shoot on a team, then I recommend a separate recorder so the audio person can remain untethered. I don't own the 60D. If it can run Magic Lantern and it has an A/V output, you can monitor from the camera. Consider a Boostaroo headphone amp, if the camera doesn't drive your headphones strongly enough. |
Re: What Sound Set up should I go for?
Thanks Jon that really helped me out my biggest concern with that set up was that I couldn't monitor the sound while recording but if your saying I can if I get the magic lantern then I think thats what im gonna go with. Thanks again!

+1 for what Jon suggested. Treat sound like a second camera.
