Tokina 28-70 ATX Pro f 2.8 questions

So this lens, which i believe has been discontinued for some time, seems like an amazing deal. Pretty sharp, strong build, very fast, decent zoom range. Anyone have this thing? Any opinions? Seems like a perfect fit for the T2i.

My biggest question is if it's old enough that there's no communication with the camera. It has an fstop ring right on the lens, so does that disable the in-camera f-stop? Does the t2i report f stop info, etc? Does the light meter work? I have to assume that the wonderful magic lantern feature of reporting focal distances is not going to work with this lens... right? Can anyone shed light on this?

A greater question is- is there a list of what lenses do "speak" to the camera and which do not? I was surprised to see that my nifty fifty canon lens does not report focal distance with magic lantern. Stuff like that!

thanks!

Re: Tokina 28-70 ATX Pro f 2.8 questions

I have this lens, along with four other Tokinas (they are my preferred zooms for video on the DSLR's because of the hard focus stops).

F-stop on the body--is this the Nikon version of the lens? Because mine is like all other EF mount lenses, no external focus ring...it's set through the body (and yes, the light meter works).

I can't speak to the T2i, but it's fine with the 5/7/1D cameras.

I am actually about to sell this lens as I will be slowly divesting out of EF and into PL, and I already have the 28-80 (I used the 28-70 for two-camera shoots) so if anyone is looking to buy, let me know. This is the Angenieux design based version.
