My timelapse showreel 2011/12
 

I have been making timelapses for just over a year now and this is a compilation of my favourite shots

Please give me some feedback on how I could improve this edit, ideas for new and different shots and just your thoughts on my showreel.

I love it! What were you shooting on? Are these HDR or regular? I really like the ones with stars, and the snowy ones!

Looks like someone's been traveling a bit. Beautiful scenery and some really nice atmospheric shots in there. Feel free to share your motion techniques/equipment.

Thanks, glad you like it. The first 3 shots were HDR and the rest are just regular shots. I am hoping to do some more starlapses at some point.

It has been a pretty amazing year and I've been very lucky to have been able to get away as much as I have. I'm currently on a gap year in between school and university, hence the large amount of free time.

In terms of the movement in some of the shots I just use keyframing in final cut pro. Zooming in a bit the setting a pan through out the clip so there is a movement effect.

This is my equipment:
Camera: Canon 550d
Lenses: Sigma 10-20mm
Canon 18-55mm (kit lens)
Tripod: Manfrotto 190XB (legs)
Manfrotto 701hdv (head)

What're you using for settings on the starlapses? I've tried a few times and have trouble getting anything really good. I was thinking it might be because I'm close to Boston though and have a lot of light pollution.

Light pollution is often a problem that can make capturing stars in a timelapse quite difficult.
I tend to set my iso at 3200 but this does mean that the shots are quite noisy. Then shutter speed at 30 second and aperture between 5.6 and 8.
