Are these new Zeiss lenses the answer?
Saw this at dpreview. Would anyone care to comment as to how these lenses may work in dealing with exposure "workarounds"? http://www.dpreview.com/news/0809/08...ssforcanon.asp

No better than the Canons I'm afraid. They do not have aperture rings. |
These lenses have no aperture ring. The camera controls aperture, just like on Canon EF lenses. I don't think these new lenses will help us force settings in video mode.
Edit: In other words, I agree with Josh... |
The Zeiss ZF version, Nikon Mount, have aperture rings and are frequently used with 35mm Letus adapters. In fact some outfitters of Letus setups have started carrying these lenses for use with their follow focus system.
But Zeiss lenses are the same as using any 3rd party lens with an aperture ring that can be mounted to the 5DII. Ironically, as Jon and Josh have pointed out, the one you DON'T want is the ZE version in the eos mount. |
