Mark II Lens question
Is this lens going to work with the Canon 5D Mark II??
EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Autofocus Lens Thanks for any help. Bruce Cleveland |
the ef-s lenses will only work on the smaller sensor cameras like the 50d, 40d, 20d, etc. The 5d, 5d2 and 1 series full frame cameras can not use them.... I think the rear flange of the ef-s lenses will hit the mirror.

Just to be clear, you cannot use an EF-S lens on the Mark II, sorry.

Bruce, remember that the 17-55mm is an EF-S lens so the equivalent focal length you'd be looking at going from the EF-S 17-55mm is about 27mm to 88mm in a full frame format. The 24-70mm f/2.8L may be a good match for you, and it's got a great reputation as well.
If you really wanted to go to a 17-55mm in full frame, your choices would basically be the 16-35mm f/2.8L or 17-40mm f/4L. Since you want that f/2.8, I'd recommend the 16-35mm L. |

The 16-35 is a great lens, but a bit too wide to be your primary glass. Here are some quick snapshots with the 16-35 WFO

Thanks Greg
