Tonight was my first test shoot with my 5D. I decided to shoot at the Santa Monica pier for the variety of coverage.

Enjoy.

Michael:

Nice demonstration of the camera ! What editor amd process were you using to edit. Looks like blacks are crushed a bit, as we have noticed with this camera.

I shot last night at our towntown mall, in front of an old theatre with a marquee....we are doing a promo contest for a local film festival. I hope to post footage shortly It just amazes me how out of the camera without a lot of tinkering, we can get some pretty nice night footage.

Hey Chris

I was using Mpeg Stremclip to convert the files to ProRes for editing in Final Cut.

There was no color correction. I am surprised at how the blacks crush. Especially after being used to the low light noise in my XHA1.

I am really amazed with the 5D.

You might give Cineforms NeoScene a test run. They give you 7 days free reign. Its available for Mac side. You might find you have more shadow detail to work with, if you want it....

Very Nice!

May I know what lens did you use here? Im on the market of buying the 5D but most of the stores that sells this are out of stock....I have a Canon 24-70mm 2.8, on my 30D that I will mount on the 5D as soon as it comes.

hi

I was using a 50mm 1.4, a 10mm 2.8 and a 24mm 1.8

If you are in Los Angeles, I would try Samy's Camera. They list them as not in stock but I bought mine in the Culver City store yesterday. Apparently they had several.

Also, Best Buy has the body in stock via mail order.

Enjoy it!

Michael,
I was messing around with streamclip and could not find prores in the dropdown menu. Can you point me in the right direction.
Thanks,

For for ProRes to appear, you have to have the latest version of Final Cut installed. When you install it, the ProRes codec is available under the Quicktime Movie formats for export. (Same place you would choose DV, HDV, etc.)

I am not sure if there is a way to get ProRes without updating FCP. Do you have the latest?
