Zoom Lenses: Nikon. Tamron, Sigma

I am looking for a good Nikon(like) Zoom Lens
I understand that with the G lenses, you have no apt. control

I am toying with 18 - 85mm range
What are you using that you love?
How do Sigma and Tamron Compare with Video?
Thanks,
J

I'm using a Nikon 28-105 AF macro and a 75-240 AF to good effect. Both cheap and sharp. Apart from aperture control, the great thing about using Nikkors is the shutter doesn't speed up or slow down while changing focal length.

I have a Sigma 12-24mm and the Bigma 50-500mm. I like both, but neither have aperture control. The Sigma 12mm on a full frame camera is about as wide as you can get for a non fisheye, I think. And the Bigma is great for impressing women.
