This would be a very useful feature..

Anyone else hate the cycling of the 5x and 10x zoom levels? I just want one zoom level to confirm focus.. Wouldn't it be great Canon introduced via a new firmware a new zoom functionality where when you hold down the zoom button, the screen jumps to 10x and reverts back to 100% view when you release the button.. No more unnecessary button pressing so faster focus and steadier hand-helds can be much easier to achieve.

Or at least just give us only one zoom level, with the option of specifying the amount of zoom.. I can't imagine ANYONE that require the sequence of the 5x and 10x zoom levels.. Most people only need one zoom level to check focus and go back to frame the shot..

I don't agree Depending on the subject on which you are focusing then different levels of magnification are very useful. With 10x it be difficult to see exactly where you are in the composition so it can be useful to find the spot you want to clearly focus on at 5x & then flip to 10x for final tweaking of the focus.

When you're viewing at 100%, you see a bounding box indicating the area of the zoom... a quick press and release of the zoom button allow you to quickly fly in for focus and back out quickly so you can start shooting..
