Problem?

Hi all.
New camera. Installed new firmware without problem (was 1.0.7).
I get occasional random showstopper stuttered jumpy video (sometimes I see stuttering on the live view screen as well, even non recording). I thought it was the H264 hard to play for my macbookpro 2.4. But Mpegstreamclip transcoded Prores files stutters as well.
Problem is there with different kind of CF cards, empty or full. Tried also different lenses (Nikon and Canon). I don't see difference.

Here's a 6 sec. native clip
http://www.filedropper.com/mvi0128
M mode. Fixed 1/50th. Fixed aperture 2.8 (Nikon lens. Camera display show, as expected, iris 00). Fixed iso 100.

Please, If you have a minute to download and see, tell me if it's normal or what.
Many thanks.
Alvise

If your firmware does not say 1.1.0 then it is not.

Try reinstalling it.

I looked at your clip. On my MBP 2.53 4GB ram the clip plays just fine.

I can make it stutter if I have a lot of apps open or Mac is doing some disc activity (ie time machine backup etc).

Stutters on my MBP 2.3 and my old G5 too.

I sometimes get the stutter on the Cam's LCD which recording or just viewing but I haven't notice it stuttering in the actual finished recording like this.

On my MBP 4.1 2.6GHz with repeated viewing of the clip I do see the occasional stutter. Not every time & not always in the same place. My guess is that Quicktime player just has a hard time with this particular clip but there is nothing intrinsically wrong with it. If you convert it to ProRes before editing it probably be fine.

I converted it to XDCAM HD. The g5 still struggles (as expected) but the MBP is fine with it.
