Frame rate question

I am using 5d2 footage with XDCAM EX3 one. Edit in FCP. My usual worklfow was: using Compressor and transcoding 5D2 clis to ProRes HQ, 30 fps. Then I would change frame rate to 25 fps in Cine Tools.

But, yesterday I discovered I get much less aliasing artefacts in 5D2 footage when transcoded with MPEG Streamline to XDCAM EX 1080p codec. By far better results.

The problem is: once I transcoded 5D2 footage to anything BUT ProRes, I can not alter frame rate in Cine Tools. That option is being grayed. And, since I use 5D2 footage for general shoots, I do not mind them being slightly slowed down. On the contrary.

So, the question obviously is: is there any other way to alter 30fps to 25fps of the clips taken by 5D2 and transcoded into XDCAM EX with MPEG Streamline?

And why the heck can't I do it with Cine Tools?

Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Try this Film Look Deinterlacing for DV - DVFilm Maker, aka DVFilmmaker.

Been a while since I've done this but I'm pretty sure cinema tools doesn't re-time interframe codecs such as XDCAM EX.
