5d mkII with Rebel T1i

Here is a little test I did with the 5d and T1i. With the Rebel's crop factor it was hard to get them the same...I probably should have taken the time to match them even closer but it will at least give you an idea. The 5d footage was converted to 720p to match the Rebel's output and this is straight out of the camera with no contrast boosted. Lens: 70-200L

"Quality testing" tests should be made at maximum quality! Thanks for trying in any case, but no HD and no original video download make it pretty useless to test different qualities. I also don't understand why put a password, are you afraid someone from outside DV Info watches the clip?

What for?

And this test was for what reason? The Ti won't let you use an "L" series lens to it's full potential. And 1080p vs. 720p, really? My little Kodak point and shot does 720, but I wouldn't compare it with my 5D. My HVX does 720 and so does my Varicam, but I wouldn't compare those two either. Two different tools. My screwgun can pound in a nail, but it's not a hammer.

I hate to pile on when everyone is giving you so much flak, but two points come to mind:

1) Your video has no motion

2) At that resolution anything would look the same

Thanks for sharing your opinions guys. I did this quick test just to see if the two cameras looked similar at all on something as simple as a static shot with the same lens with the same settings (aperture, shutter, etc.). My XH A1 doesn't and that's for sure. If you want to post a clip of your point-and-shoot or screwgun then be my guest. I put a password on it because I wanted to and...that's it. The video should be downloadable now...bad habit.

I think the video was quite useful. One of the big deals with the 5D is its ability to make any size video look better with its quality lenses and big sensor. The fact that the Rebel T1i makes nice web video will be very helpful to some people assuming there are no huge flaws otherwise in the camera. It might even make a nice companion to the 5D as a backup camera or for in situations where the magnification from crop factor would be beneficial (like sports video).
