I don't see any reason why it wouldn't. I have a Rode Videomic, but I also have an AT875 which I connect via a Juicedlink.

At a minimum, you'd want a transformer in the adapter, rather than a straight cable.

Next, you'll want to run Magic Lantern firmware, otherwise, the camera's ALC will constantly adjust your levels, boosting noise in the quiet bits.

Unfortunately, the Videomic Doesn't have a ton of gain. The result will be noisy. The sound will be much better if you can add gain with an active preamp, such as the juicedLink CX231 (with phantom power) or CX211 (no phantom).

To get an idea what clean gain will get you, check out these videos. I recommend downloading the wave files and listening over good monitors or headphones, rather than hearing the compressed audio on computer speakers in a noisy environment.

The Beachtek is passive. That will give you an idea of what to expect with a passive transformer adapter.

Hugh,

I hooked up my NTG-2 to my 5DMKII today and was pleased overall with the sound. The sound is as least as good NTG-2 to 5DMKII as it is NTG-2 to my XH A1.

The cable I used to connect the NTG-2 and 5DII is described as:

XLR to 1/8" mini cable/transformer; here's the link to the one I got. Nothing special but it works.

Which I got from BHphotovideo for around $20.

Good luck.
