if not canon 85mm what?

I read really good things about the canon 85mm 1.8..but believe it or not I'm thinking maybe need to find something cheaper.

Its complicated...Credit card from this Country have a $400 limit....
(try to guess the Country it might be fun) and since the cheaper imported version is out of stock I'm left with the $400 and wont fit my wife's CC.

Besides that...is there a similar/equal quality non canon 85mm that you will recommend.
or as a matter of fact...any necesary affordable lens for wedd photo. I dig the 1.8 for dark interiors.

Mostly for wedding photography...my wife...I do the video..

I'm shipping to NY where I'll be going soon.

Thanks a lot.

Maybe you can find a used one. For instance, KEH has one with a UG (ugly) rating for $144 right now. My son bought a Nikon Ai 200/4 in UG condition for $35 last year, and there's nothing wrong with it. I bought my 85/1.8 in top condition with the box for $300 through craigslist.

I bought a Contax 85/1.4 and an adapter ring off ebay and love it. Amazing lens. No autofocus though.
