The right cable for ME66

I'm trying to plug my ME66 directly into my 5Dmkii without springing for a beachtek.
So my question is, what cable do I use?
I've heard a bunch of peolpe use a Hosa Technology Mini Stereo Male to 3-pin XLR Female cable.
I just don't understand the whole stero to mono thing. Is the ME66 considered stero or mono?

Also is there a difference between these two cables other than the length?

1 foot
Hosa Technology | Mini Stereo Male to 3-pin XLR | XVM-101F | B&H

5 foot
Hosa Technology | Mono Mini Male to 3-Pin XLR Female | XVM-305F

Quote:

This Hosa XVM-105M Mono Mini Angled Male to 3-Pin XLR Female Cable is designed for devices with mono input jacks. When used with a stereo mini jack, the XVM-105M applies the signal to one channel only.
So the 5 foot lead is not what you want.

You (presumably) want the output of the ME66 fed to both channels of the camera. This will give the same signal on both channels of your recording.

Just noticed...

On second thoughts, better check with B&H directly because:

a) when you hit the link for the XVM-305F it brings up details of a different part - XVM-105M
b) when you hit the link for the XVM-305F, the image clearly shows a lead terminating in a STEREO minijack (not a mono as described)

Something funny about the part numbers?
