5D MK II Audio Question

Hey everyone:

I posted this in the audio forum, but some of the folks that know the 5D MK II might be better suited to answer this.

Check it out here:

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Saw your earlier post, and this one now. Not clear if you are looking to fix recording you already have, or to learn how to do it better in future.

For the former, you are going to have to clean it up in a sound editing program. Sounds like with the second version, you have done that, though it needs work. Your filtering has taken a lot away.

For the latter, the 5D forum is has several threads talking about choices for recording sound. Using Magic Lantern as an overlay to the camera operating systems actually gives you control of the sound levels. Follow Jon Fairhurst thread here, it will tell you all you want to know:

Hey Chris:

Thanks for the reply. I'm actually looking for some instructions / tips on sound cleaning. I guess that's what you would call it...

Basically, I didn't do such a hot job of capturing the audio in the first place, so I need to try to fix it in Soundtrack Pro. Can you give me a jumping off point for that?

~ Charles

PS -- I'm going to read the other thread now...hopefully, I can improve the capture for next time.

I am on PC side. I have used a free program called audacity that includes a noise cleaner.

Soundtrack Pro has similar capabilites according to the list of tutorial here:

Apple Soundtrack Pro Tutorials

At this point 5D guys aren't what is a needed as much as sound editors familiar with Soundtrack Pro.
