2.5x or 3x Z-Finder?

I'm about to upgrade my old Hoodman to a Zacuto Z-Finder? Which model gives the best overall utility, the 2.5x version or the 3x version?

I have the 3X Hoodman and I like it. A little less wouldn't be bad either. With the 3X you can focus on some shots without using the 5X/10X button.

2.5x vs 3x

i went with the 2.5. i asked around a bit, and it seems like most people are going with this choice.

the general consensus seems to be that the 2.5 is better for framing your shots and the 3 is better for focusing.

i find that i'm able to see well enough with the 2.5x to focus most of the time.

Hoodman 3x and Zacuto 3x

I am upgrading from Hoodman to Zacuto - I like the option of being able to attach and detach the Loupe easily and quickly. And my current mounting option doesn't allow this as easily as the Z-Finder Pro.

I'd like to know if the Hoodman 3x gives the same result as the Zacuto 3x in terms of magnification. the obvious answer is that it will.

However has anyone tried both to determine this?

The reason I ask is that I find framing shots fine with the Hoodman 3x.

With regards

Jeff

Re: 2.5x or 3x Z-Finder?

I used the 2.5x briefly. I liked it over my friends 3x as I spent less time looking around the frame due to too much magnification.

Cheers
