Mark III timecode

Does the TC feature included with the Mark III write some kind of proprietary timecode? I can see correct TC when playing or recording clips in the camera but when I play those same clips using Quicktime Player or AVID, all clips start at 00:00:00:00. Any clues?

Thanks.

Re: Mark III timecode

I have tested 5DmkIII with timecode on Avid, FCP, Hiero, 5DtoRGB and all worked fine. Oddly the timecode does not read on Flame or FCPX... so they must be creating something nonstandard.

Thanks Jeff. Did you link your MKIII in AVID via AMA? I may be missing a setting on the 5D but my understanding is that TC is always written right? There is no TC ON/OFF function?

Re: Mark III timecode

Yes, I believe that time code is always written. This is confirmed by the line on the top of page 238 of the manual referring to the Movie Recording Count (Can be elapsed time from start of recording or time code) where it says
Quote:

Regardless of the [Movie rec count] setting, the time code will always be recorded to the movie file.

I think so - I have been testing using set to same as clock.
