5DIII and the Ninja Flame recorder

I have posted two threads on this camera and recorder, and have just taken a 1 hour training course at a local camera club on use of this video recorder.

Everything I have read indicated I can record past the roughly 1/2 hour restriction of recording on the 5DIII when recording to the Atomos Ninja Flame recorder.

However after getting home from the training session I tried to record past this 1/2 hour restriction, but the camera stopped the recording at the 29 + minute point. Is there a way to get my camera to record past this point without installing new software on my camera? If so, how do I get it to record past this restriction?

Re: 5DIII and the Ninja Flame recorder

You can't record internally unless you disable the HDMI start/stop commands, that's why.

I think the third-party Magic Lantern software might defeat that limitation, but I understand you'd rather not do that.

ML doesn't really defeat the limit it just enables an automatic restart after recording stops when it hits the 29'59" limit. There will be a glitch & up to a second of recording will be lost.
