GL2 v VX2100

Anyone got any inside info on Sonyís new cam?

Is it gonna kick the ass of my new gl2?

Some reassuring comments (like "no") would be appreciated. :)

The VX2100 has 1/3" CCDs with the same video effective CCD pixels as the VX2000's CCDs, but these VX2100 CCDs are supposed to be more sensitive. Also, some of the VX2000's weaknesses have been addressed, or so Sony claims. I also presume that the new VX2100 will be more expensive than the VX2000, making it much more expensive than the GL2. So, if you don't mind paying a lot more for a GL2 killer, then maybe you won't mind paying a lot more for a VX2100 killer? :)

Thanks Frank. - I can sleep easy in my bed tonight - eh? And dream about the PagLight C6 kit that'll give tons of light for only £154 GBps - gotta be good - eh?

The starting price for the VX2100 is supposed to be $2999 just like the VX2000 now, so it will certainly knock the VX2000 down in price to be more of a competitor for people looking for a newer/used GL2 or VX2000.

Richard, you're a Manculian! - IT's an XM2 be Proud to be PAL! - Sing it from the highest tree . . . .

I'm starting a campaign for us PALLIEs to come out of the shadow of the GL2s - anyway XM2, sounds more futuristic than GL2 , sound more like a European Economic Forecast . . .. . . .

Graham, I try not to think of the things I cannot afford. And I also belong to the PAL cult. :)

You want to hear my wish list?

1) Leica M6 with 100mm Leica lens
2) Mamiya 6 with 50mm, 75mm and 150mm Mamiya lenses
3) A new BMW motorcyle (but a new Ducatti will do)
4) An 8 bedroom house
5) a get younger pill
6) a new wife
7) a new car, of course
8) a bundle of money

:)

Graham Bernard October 20th, 2003 03:31 PM

. . . oh . .I'm gonna get the PagLight C6 - point being I can invest on something that'll get me close to a low light retreval situation, without the big Wonga - yeah?

Cheers,

Grazie

Frank Granovski October 20th, 2003 03:43 PM

Well, why the H_ll not? If you can afford it. Oh, and that was just my short list, by the way. :)

Richard Lewis October 20th, 2003 03:52 PM

I Know Graham, I just call it the GL2 so all the Americans on this forum know what the hell us Brits are talking about.

Chris Hurd October 20th, 2003 09:04 PM

Sometimes I think we should create special forums, one for the Aussies, and another one for the Canajians, we've got so many of both tribes. I don't know what the deal is, perhaps it's a Texas attraction, but I'm glad to have all y'all, despite yer weird accents.

Daymon Hoffman October 20th, 2003 09:06 PM

LOL oh bloody admit it mate you love our accents... crikey you little ripper. :P
