moisture vs gl2
 

My gl2 refuses to power up. Moisture is the only suspect.
How far up the creek am i? Do I have any options? Canon? Warranty? Junkyard?.......... thanks

There's no way for anyone here to tell you "how far up the creek" you are from that description. Since "moisture is the only suspect" you clearly know more about the problem than we do. We have no idea if your camera is still covered by a warranty, but if you've checked all of the obvious issues (aka using a charged battery) then it's time to contact Canon service.

Sooo......I've had my gl2 since early October. I've never had a single problem. I've used it nearly everyday with zero problems.
A roadside waterfall lured my gl2 to its misty banks, after shooting for about 90-120 seconds i noticed moisture developing on the outside of the camera. I removed the battery and retreated to the car and removed the ultra-fine mist from the housing. I dab dried to prevent smearing type penetration. It didnt appear to be a threat. I haven't been able to power it up since. I've tried brand new battery\power sources. At the waterfall I happened to be using the stock issue battery,fully charged. Two year Mack Pro Video warranty.
I am wondering just how sensitive the gl2 is towards the other 68% of the planet. What are the best/worst case outcomes for me?
Canon told me to mail it in. I was wondering if there is a way to safely remove the tape? My wife swears divorce if i send the camera with tape.

Well, I think you'd better collect a divorce attorney and start negotiating a property settlement. To my knowledge, there is no (user-accessible) way to extricate a tape from a transport that will not power-up. (I assume that you have already tried just opening the door to see if the tape ejects.) I am sure that the Canon service people have a method to extract the tape. The chances are that it will not involve destroying the tape as long as the camera properly powered-down on its last use.
