Do all GL2 cameras pick up so much "handling" noise?

I just got a GL2 today and am depressed at how much "handling" noise the camera picks up. My VX2000 picks up virtually nothing, but the GL2 picks up every little movement my fingers make across its frame (not on the zoom buttons or when turning the focus ring). I tried an external mike in the MA-300 and the same thing happens. Also, the MA-300 seems to lower the volume of any mike I plug into it by about 3db or so. Thoughts?

I noticed that the GL2 does pick up a lot of noise with the built in mic, but was not surprised by this. I use an external now, and I haven't had a problem with handling noise, but I usually have my GL2 on a tripod anyway.

You might want to try wearing some soft gloves. I know it sounds strange, but if the noise it's picking up is from your fingers dragging across the frame of the camera, you could consider wearing gloves. I've worked boom a few times and even on good boom poles the mic will pick up the noise from a bare hand sliding on the shaft.

Personally I have not had that problem. I did move on to the Azden SGM-2x mic but only because I wanted a better mic all around, but not because of the sound handling issue. I simply wanted to get closer in on the sound. Using the mix extension it picks up voices really well, but holy moly is that mic long.

Camera Sound

My situation was just the opposite. My Sony picked up all the noise but my GL2 is wonderful. In fact, it was the lack of handling noise that was a major factor in my decision to go with the GL2 in the first place. However, I now use a Seinheisser MKE 300 so there is no problem whatsoever.
