Can you use the A/V terminal on the XM2 to just input your sound?

Just sitting at work so can't try with my camera, but I looked at the XM2 manual online and can't see how I could use the AV terminal to record the sound as opposed to having to go through the mic in? I'd prefer to feed a line level (-10dBV) to the cam through this port, and not have to go mic if I could. I had the unfortunate experience of shooting a gig the other day and I just couldn't get a usable signal from the mixer, even when combining my Sign Video XLR adaper and the mic in on the Gl2...

I guess it can't be done otherwise I'm sure someone would have popped up about it by now.

You can record sound via the av socket - that's how you would capture analogue in. The problem is that you wouldn't be able to actually shoot with the camera.
As for your line in problem, have you tried switching in mic attenuation? If the problem was over-loading, then this should cure it. Whenever I use an SQN or Shure mixer, this is the setting I use - no problem.

Unless I'm sadly mistaken, I'm pretty sure you can only dub an audio insert via that jack *after* you've shot video. I agree with Robin that the issue concerns your XLR adapter, not the XM2. Good luck,

Yeah I realise that my XLR adapter was not handling things well enough for some reason (user error probably - rushed for time, in the dark, with bands blaring away).

Cheers
