New GL2 owner here!

Hey everyone, I just got a allmost new GL2. It has some hours on it but had the box and evrything that came with it. $1400 (not bad, right?)

Anyway, I want the external mic setup, lens filters and a tripod to get started. Do you guys have advice on these items that will be of good quality and not make me poor?

Thanks,

Dane

Welcome to the forum dane! I've just recently purchased a GL2 'almost new' as well and the price u've got it at is insanely reasonable.. i purchased mine @ $2550 cdn, which is approx $1700-$1800 USD depending on the exchange rate. Of course i had a ton of extras thrown in and such... but Jeff is right, search the forums.. i've gained invaluable advice from these forums and yeh, enjoy your GL2!!

Is that including taxes (PST+GST)?

No, it doesn't including taxes. But still $2650 is not bad.

I just purchased my GL2 today in Toronto for $2650+tax=$3048, not bad.
I checked everything inside the box at the store, looks great! I haven’t start playing with it, hopefully I will love it more when I start shooting something.

Thanks everybody for the advises!

Then I would be correct in saying sales tax in Toronto is about 15%? I had no idea! Sales tax here in my part of California is about 8%.

Yeh, welcome to canada hehe.. Toronto's 15% and Vancouver's 14.5%. The price we pay for snow capped mountains in July and the occasional hot warm day in Jan.

I love vancouver though :)

Just play around with the new GL2 tonight, feel great! But I still haven't try the actual recording, I will wait until weekend.

I wonder what kind of bag you guys use to keep your GL2. I bought the Lowepro Nova 4. The GL2 can fit in either take the hood off or move the viewfinder up.

Lowepro Nova 5 is designed for GL2 but I don't like the size which is too big and too much space left so I just bought the Nova 4.
