where to find a chamois eye cup for GL2?

Does anyone know where to get a chamois eye cup for the GL2? I have a couple of the I-cuffs, one for my GL2 and one for my Sony D8 but I'm not to happy with them. I would love to find a chamios one instead. I've seen them for the XL1 but I know that it won't fit.

Any Idea's anyone?

Since the GL2's eyecup is not of a standard size (as compared to, say, an Ikegami viewfinder) chamois eye cup covers are not available for it, at least to my knowledge.

You can find a variety at Film Tools. Perhaps you can adapt one of the smaller sizes but I doubt it.

Thanks for the Idea Ken.

I called and talked to Stan there at Film Tools and He said that a lot of people buy the XL1 Chamios eyecup. But as you stated the GL2 is a different size. I was hoping that someone has been able to find one that does fit the GL2 and where to get them.

OK, here's an idea. I've never tried this but it just might fill the bill. Do you still have that large eyecup that came with your GL2? It's designed for eyeglass wearers. It's possible, maybe even probable, that it will fit into one of the standard-size chamois covers...the larger covers designed for standard viewfinders. It may be worth a try if you really want to use a chamois eyepiece cover.

Shame about the Chammie !

I use the Chamois Leather patch - got it after Robin's suggestion .. makes a whole heap of diffference. Got them here in UK cost Ģ3.50 each? No Brainer! Yes, I use the large spectacle e/cup. I suppose if you where reeeeeally pushed you could make loads from soft chamois - best use of chamois "Car Cleaning" leather I can think of .. .anything to get away from that job! ! !

Robin, did you change your Will about donating your Matte box to ME! . . . can't see much use of it in the place where the temperature exceeds the suggested ambients for the XM2? . .. . just thought I'd remind you! !

Grazie

. . . so that is NOW 2 posts showing me your setup with the Arri Matte and rods . . you doing this on purpose? I CAN'T get any greener . . . You got any old equip you wanna ditch my way? ? ? Any old Canon XL2 samples?

Great Idea, I'll do just that. I didn't even think to use the larger eye piece to put a chamios over.

Thanks guys and also thanks for the pic to show it!!!!

Grazie,
Where did you get yours?

Corey MacGregor August 17th, 2004 08:15 PM

I've seen them in just about every local camera shop around here. They go for about $5. Fits over the standard eye piece. I don't know the brand, but they seem to be everywhere.
