Showing Timecode on playback?

I'd like to make a proxy recording of a tape off the analog out from the GL2 that shows the tape's timecode on screen.

When I toggle the display with the remote, though, in addition to time code, there's a lot of extra information showing including exposure settings, etc.

Is there a way to have the analog out display show ONLY the time code over the video playback??

Thanks.

No, not directly. What might work is capturing to the computer,
add a timecode on the video inside the NLE (Vegas can do this
easily for example) and export it back out to tape. That might
work, although I'm not quite sure which timecode the overlay
will display though, track timecode or project timecode (probably
the latter which doesn't help you).

Thanks for the idea, but that may be a bit overkill for what I'm after.

For my own use, I've been using Sonnyboo's suggestion of recording tapes to VHS for review prior to capture. Kinda took this one step further by capturing with a Philips set-top DVD recorder so I have a DVD to work with instead of a tape.

I can get by with all the extras for my own use, but a client wants to review all the raw video (5 hours) from an event shoot to compare with the latest edit of the project. I think he's crazy and won't watch more than 5 minutes of it, but you know ... the client is always right.

Recording on the Philips with the camera's timecode display on would be perfect, so the client could refer to specific time codes if he does watch it, but I think all the extras on the GL2 overlay would be a little too much distraction.

Mmm. I wonder if I could find my old ZR25. Maybe that has a simpler display?

Thanks again.
