If I am to render a clip shot with frame mode, what settings would I use? I don't know if it is 30p or if I simply do 29.97 progressive. Just wondering. Thanks.

You want progressive (as you know), make sure this is also set
in your project properties.

Which NLE (edit program) would you be using? Some programs
have templates that are called 30p or 30 fps progressive and
are in fact 29.97 fps (what is should be!). Others list it specifically
as 29.97p for example.

Here in Sony Vegas I can choose for both 30p and 29.97p (which
is the correct one in the [NTSC] DV world).

ya it's sony vegas. So if i'm playing it on ntsc do i render 29.97 progressive or 30p?

1. File -> New *OR* File -> Properties:

- Template: NTSC DV (720x480; 29.970 fps)
- Field order: None (progressive scan)

2. File -> Render As:

- Save as type = MainConcept MPEG-2 (*.mpg)
- Template: DVD NTSC
- Custom -> Video: Field order: Progressive only

- Save as type = Video for Windows (*.avi)
- Template: NTSC DV
- Custom -> Video: Field order: None (progressive scan)

Hopefully you get the idea. I've given you two examples above.
All exporting needs to be done in 29.97(0) fps and should have
interlaced set to none/progressive.
